Texas Instruments (TI) has launched the industry's first complete Bluetooth low energy solution and the highest integrated ANT network processor to provide ultra-low power short-range wireless connectivity solutions for consumer medical, mobile accessories, sports and health care applications. Using CC2540 single-mode Bluetooth low energy system-on-chip and CC257x ANT network processor, the target application can work continuously for more than 1 year through a button battery.

Low-energy Bluetooth technology is designed for low-cost, low-power, short-range RF connections. In such applications, the focus is on energy consumption (current × time), not just current. Zhou Xiang, business development manager of TI's Analog Devices Division, pointed out that in applications with a large amount of transmitted data, because the data transmission process takes a long time, it is not obvious to optimize energy consumption by shortening the wake-up time; For applications that transmit very little data, the data transfer processing time is shorter, and a large amount of time can be saved by quickly waking up, thereby reducing energy consumption. Therefore, TI's Bluetooth low energy solution is especially suitable for wireless applications with small data transmission.

CC2540 Bluetooth low energy system-on-chip features include:

Single chip device: integrated controller, host and application in 6mm × 6mm package can reduce physical size and reduce cost; based on flash memory: device firmware can be updated in the field, data can be stored on-chip, which can increase flexibility for developers; Complete solution: low-power RF IC, comprehensive embedded single-mode protocol stack, configuration file software and application support; RF performance: excellent long-range link budget (up to + 97dB) and good compatibility with other 2.4GHz devices Coexistence; interoperability / compatibility: single-mode and dual-mode devices that comply with the Bluetooth specification version 4.0 (Bluelink 7.0 Bluetooth / FM single-chip solution, WiLink 7.0 WLAN / GPS / Bluetooth / FM single-chip solution, and WiLink 6.0 WLAN / Bluetooth / FM single chip solution) can realize comprehensive link test and development.

The CC2540 Bluetooth low energy SoC in QFN-40 package is now in mass production, and engineers can use the development kit CC2540MINI-DK to start development immediately. The CC2570 (single channel) and CC2571 (8 channel) ANT in QFN-40 package will be put into mass production in December 2010.
