Reverse Conducting Thyristor(RCT)
Reverse Conducting Thyristor(RCT) is also called Reverse- appreciation Thyristor. The characteristic is that a diode is connected in reverse parallel between the anode and cathode of thyristor, so that the transmitting junction of anode and cathode is short-circuited.As a result of this special circuit structure, it has high voltage resistance, high temperature resistance, short turn-off time, low switching voltage and other good performance. For example, the turn-off time of the reverse thyristor is only a few microseconds, and the working frequency is dozens of KHZ, which is better than the fast thyristor (FSCR).This device is suitable for switching power supply and UPS uninterrupted power supply. One RCT can replace one thyristor and one continuous current diode respectively.

On January 8, during CES 2018, TCL held a major press conference in Las Vegas, where it unveiled a range of new products, including a 75-inch large LCD TV, the Roku 5 and Roku 6 series TVs, as well as new audio solutions. The company also announced that it has become one of the fastest-growing TV brands in the U.S. over the past few years, marking a significant milestone in its global expansion.
At the event, TCL Multimedia CEO Wang Cheng shared key figures from 2017, revealing that the company sold over 4 million units in North America, securing third place in market share behind Samsung and Vizio. Globally, TCL’s LCD sales exceeded 23 million units, with a 16.4% year-over-year growth. Its overseas market saw a 33.5% increase, while the North American market surged by an impressive 131.5%, showcasing strong brand recognition and product demand.
The rapid growth in the North American market is attributed to TCL’s extensive channel strategy and aggressive brand promotion. The company has successfully expanded its presence across major retailers such as Best Buy, Walmart, Amazon, and Sam’s Club, which collectively account for 80% of TV sales in the U.S. Additionally, TCL has achieved 90% retail coverage across regional stores, ensuring broad consumer access.
Looking ahead, TCL is focusing on Quantum Dot (QD) technology, which offers a color gamut of 157%, accurately displaying 1.07 billion colors—58.3% more than standard LCDs. These TVs also boast a color persistence of 60,000 hours, significantly outperforming traditional models.
In addition to QD TVs, TCL and Roku announced a partnership to develop smart speaker devices integrated with voice assistant systems. This collaboration allows users to interact with their TVs or set-top boxes via voice commands, offering a seamless smart home experience.
Another highlight was the launch of the China Star Optronics G11 project—a state-of-the-art production line for 11th-generation TFT-LCD and AMOLED displays. With a total investment of 46.5 billion yuan, the facility spans 992,000 square meters and will produce 90,000 panels per month starting March 2019. It will focus on 43â€, 65â€, and 75†displays, as well as large public screens, addressing the growing demand for high-end, large-size displays in China.
TCL is also making waves in sustainability. In North America, it launched a recycling and dismantling program, with annual recycling capacity reaching 70,000 pounds in 2017. By 2018, this is expected to double to 140,000 pounds, and by 2020, TCL aims to capture 40% of the used appliance recycling market in the region.
Through these initiatives, TCL is not only solidifying its position as a leading TV brand but also evolving into a key player in the recycling and environmental services sector. The company is committed to building a sustainable, closed-loop industry chain that supports both consumers and the environment.
