The LT3958 includes features like soft start and frequency foldback to protect the inductor during startup. It also has an internal low-side N-channel MOSFET rated at 84V and 3.3A, which is driven from an internal 7.2V supply. Its current mode architecture ensures stable performance across a broad range of input and output voltages.

You can set the operating frequency using an external resistor, ranging from 100kHz to 1MHz, and even synchronize it with an external clock via the SYNC pin. The device operates on a low minimum supply voltage (as low as 5V) and consumes less than 1μA in shutdown mode, making it ideal for battery-powered systems where efficiency is key.
