On May 20th, in order to further improve the security performance and ease of operation of the mobile phone, Samsung has been striving to find relevant technologies. Rhee In-jong, senior vice president of Samsung, announced to analysts and investors on a forum in Hong Kong, China, on Monday that the company is investigating measures to install biosensors into its mobile security systems. Samsung also claims that the sensor will be deployed to low-end smartphones, not just high-end mobile devices.

Rhee In-jong is also the person in charge of developing Samsung Mobile Enterprise Software, a mobile enterprise software called Knox. Rhee In-jong said: "We are studying a variety of different biometric mechanisms, and one of the technologies that everyone is paying attention to is iris detection."

Biometrics in current mobile devices primarily include the use of a user's finger as a scanner. In fact, Samsung's initial application of fingerprint scanning to smartphones began with the Galaxy S5 phone launched in April this year. Rhee In-jong said: "As a market leader, Samsung will of course pay close attention to market trends." For a long time, Samsung has been struggling to win corporate customers to use its mobile devices. To this end, Samsung is keen to use the Knox system to remove obstacles in this regard. As we all know, Samsung has been facing strong competitive pressure from BlackBerry in terms of acquiring corporate customers. However, the situation has changed, and the traditional advantages of BlackBerry in the enterprise user field are also deteriorating.

Rhee In-jong also said that new sensors like those used to detect human irises may be the first to start with high-end phones. According to Rhee In-jong, there are currently about 87 million Knox systems. Of these devices, approximately 1.8 million actively use Knox, primarily in regulated industries such as banks, healthcare and financial companies. Rhee In-jong also said that the number of customers is still growing, the initial focus is to expand the scope of the issue.

Rhee In-jong said he hopes Knox's market demand will expand to other industries. He still refuses to comment on the number of paid customers that the Knox system has already received.
